The Council of Trent (1545 -1563) suppressed many sequences that were popularly in use at the time for Roman Catholic Masses. Today only a handful are in use: Victimae paschali, Veni Sancte Spiritus, Lauda Sion, Dies irae, and Stabat mater.
This book explores the sequences of Notker Balbulus (ca. 840 - 912), monk of St. Gall.
